About App Shots Studio

App Shots Studio is a free tool for making App Store and Google Play screenshots. It's built and maintained by J and S Studio.

Why we built it

We make apps ourselves, and every release ended the same way: hours spent in design tools lining up phone frames, re-exporting files at slightly different sizes, and fixing App Store Connect's "can't contain alpha channels" error. The paid screenshot tools we tried were more than we needed for a quick release.

So we built the tool we wanted: upload your screens, write a headline for each, pick a style, download files that the stores accept. No account, no watermark, nothing to install.

How it works

Everything happens in your web browser. When you add a screenshot, it's loaded straight from your device into the page. Each slide is drawn on an HTML canvas at the exact size the store requires, and the download is saved from that canvas. Your images and text are never sent to our server.

We keep the size requirements in line with Apple's and Google's published documentation and update the Studio and the sizes guide when the stores change their rules.

How the site is paid for

The Studio is free. We plan to cover hosting costs with ads from Google AdSense on our guide pages. We keep ads away from the Studio's buttons and out of the way while you work.

What's changed

November 2026: version 2

  • New step-by-step Studio: Screens, Words, Style, Download.
  • Tap words to highlight them, instead of typing asterisks.
  • iPhone exports updated to 1320 × 2868, the large size Apple asks for.
  • Android exports changed to 1080 × 1920, because Google Play doesn't accept screenshots taller than 2:1.
  • New Android phone frames, drawn in the Studio rather than from images.
  • "Download all" now saves a single ZIP with numbered files.
  • Preview and download now use the same drawing, so what you see is exactly what you get.
  • Simpler site with fewer, more accurate guides.

September 2026

  • Removed the built-in camera cutout from the iPhone frames, since real screenshots already include the status bar and Dynamic Island.
  • Fixed exports that came out shifted or with stray boxes in the corner.
  • All exports saved without transparency, so App Store Connect accepts them.
